Job Description

The CNC Mill Machinist sets up and operates 3-axis CNC mills to produce precision components in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on optimizing machine set-ups, maintaining tight tolerances, and ensuring parts meet all specifications through careful inspection and collaboration with programming and quality teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3-axis CNC mills to run full machining cycles for both high- and low-volume production.

• Optimize set-up times and maximize machine utilization to improve overall productivity.

• Read and interpret blueprints, route instructions, and other technical documentation to understand job specifications and requirements.

• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure parts meet all specified tolerances and quality standards.

• Troubleshoot CNC programs and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality and efficient operation.

• Configure CNC equipment, maintain tool and work offsets, and verify that machines are properly prepared for each job.

• Perform in-process part inspections with a high degree of precision using appropriate measuring tools.

• Follow established in-process inspection procedures and promptly notify supervisory or lead personnel when non-conformances occur.

• Communicate effectively with programmers, quality personnel, and other team members to receive assignments and resolve quality or production issues.

• Support continuous improvement efforts related to machining processes, set-up methods, and part quality.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of experience operating CNC mill machines in a manufacturing environment, including performing set-ups.

• Proficiency in setting up and running 3-axis CNC mills for production.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and route instructions accurately.

• Strong understanding and practical use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Hands-on experience with G-code and the ability to make program adjustments as needed.

• Experience using micrometers and other precision measuring tools for part inspection.

• Ability to troubleshoot machining programs and processes to resolve issues quickly.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing parts within specified tolerances.

• Effective communication skills for working with programmers, quality personnel, and other team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC equipment from brands such as Brother, Doosan, Takumi, and Siemens is preferred but not required.

• Familiarity with calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools used in machining environments.

• Experience in operating mills and lathes in a production setting.

• Experience with multi-axis CNC machining, including 5-axis equipment, is a plus.

• Ability to perform efficient machine set-ups and changeovers to support varied production needs.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment, where CNC mills and other machining equipment are used to produce precision parts. The setting is hands-on and production-oriented, with an emphasis on safety, teamwork, and consistent quality. Employees work closely with programmers, quality staff, and fellow machinists in a highly collaborative atmosphere. After full-time hire, uniforms are provided and color-coordinated for each day of the week, creating a cohesive team appearance and simplifying dress expectations. Steel-toe footwear is required, and support is provided through a footwear voucher. The environment is fast-paced, focused on productivity, and designed to support skilled machinists in delivering high-quality work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
