Market Segment Manager, Carpet, Paper & Packaging Solutions - Charlotte, NC

The Carpet, Paper & Packaging Solutions (CPP) group is dedicated to being the number one provider of dispersion and resins solutions to our customers in the carpet, paper, printing and packaging industries.

CPP plays in a mature market with established competitors and customers, with the target to continue the multi-year trend of growing profitably above GDP. The plastic-to-paper packaging trend and new regulations are offering new opportunities combined with our strong intimacy, industry-shaping relationships, and technical leadership. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, self-driven segment manager to set the tone for our growth strategy.

In this key role, you will be responsible for the strategic roadmap of the segment and implementing its execution with sales, technical and functional teams. This includes conducting market research to understand the “voice-of-customer”, market and competitive trends and translating these into tactical executions, innovation pipeline projects and pricing strategies. You will manage the innovation pipeline, product launches, and segment’s portfolio strategy and positioning, with a keen focus on developing and promoting differentiated value-propositions. The value you drive will be measurable directly in your impact to the segment volume and margin, and you will have an opportunity for high visibility within the Dispersions North America business. Finally, you will be responsible for the gathering and sharing of competitive intelligence in your segment, developing marketing materials, managing conferences and coordinating with global teams to ensure alignment of our regional activities.

Travel up to 25% domestically may be required in this role.

As a Market Segment Manager, you create chemistry by...

• Applying your education and experience in marketing, sales, product management, technical service, business development, business management or other business functions, you will develop market segment strategies and lead its implementation in partnership with Sales and Technical colleagues.

• Demonstrating your ability to analyze and segment markets, select target products, and prepare and execute business strategies, you will assess the competitive and customer landscapes, as well as existing product and segment portfolios, to develop the roadmap for sustainable and differentiated innovation. This includes managing existing portfolios to optimize profitability and positioning, identifying industry specific trends, understanding unmet customer needs, identifying key growth areas and opportunity fields, and developing differentiated value propositions.

• Using entrepreneurial drive, project management experience, and your solid business acumen, initiate and lead innovation and business development projects from ideation to successful product launch.

• Successfully engaging stakeholders within the organization, design and lead execution of the assigned segment’s channel strategy, including developing go-to-market plans, sales tools, and training / promotional materials for existing portfolios and new product launches in partnership with direct and channel partners.

• Working as a highly motivated self-starter, collect, validate, maintain, and update market & competitive intelligence per assigned industry segment. Additionally, you will understand value propositions and partner with Product Management to ensure accurate industry specific pricing targets are implemented.

• Your outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills will serve you well as you organize and participate in customer and industry specific trade shows / fairs and ensure representation in key industry associations.

• Utilize AI & Digitalization to establish new business models, sales channels and improve efficiency
