Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for night shift with required Critical Care/ICU or ED experience and KS or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting in a hospital environment
• Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1
• Uses BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and pacer wires
• Performs own lab draws, calls own consults, and conducts own codes without a dedicated vascular access team
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30, 3 shifts per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Float requirement to ICU and all inpatient units including Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED with prior experience
• Current EMR is Epic

Requirements

• Active KS RN license or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience required
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• Experience with open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 patients and pacer wires preferred
• Comfortable performing own lab draws, consults, and codes without a vascular access team

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to progressive care patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions
• Must be willing to work some holidays based on unit needs
• Facility is nicotine-free
• Orientation includes multiple days at KUKC Campus and Olathe campus, including Director of Nursing training and virtual Epic training
• Local and travel candidates accepted at the same bill rate
