Associate Teacher Reports To: Building Principal Classification: Paraprofessional (Clerical/Teacher Assistant) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 188 (Based on a 7.5 hour workday) Salary: See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional/Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 207 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Assist in the implementation of District educational programs under the direction of the Campus Administrator or teacher(s). Qualifications / Skills Educational background: Bachelor's degree. Teacher Certification (pending). Educational Aide Certification. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work and communicate with children and adults. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Proficient in the effective use of technology. Fluent in English (speaking and writing). Attention to detail. Ability to work independently, as well as in a co-teaching model. Experience Full semester of student classroom teaching experience or enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program. Major Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to Texas Education Agency and district policies and procedures. Assist and prepare lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements. Collaborate with certified staff to assess student learning styles and plan instructional activities. Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment. Assist teachers in classroom management and implement daily schedule. Record keeping, clerical duties, and assist with technology instruction. Plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods with certified staff. Use technology to enhance teaching/learning. Assume full teaching role in absence of teacher. Design and implement assessments measuring progress toward academic standards. Use assessment data to inform instruction. Provide individualized or small-group tutoring before and after school. Assist with student testing and data analysis. Maintain accurate records of student progress and development. Help students analyze and improve study methods. Support student behavior management in line with Student Code of Conduct. Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning. Communicate effectively with students, parents, principals, teachers, and community members. Participate in staff development and committee activities. Perform related duties such as lunchroom supervision or bus duty as required. Equipment Used Computer, ACTIV Board, copy machine, and audio visual machines. Working Conditions Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; regular in-person interaction with the public. Physical Demands: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling; moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment.
