Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Clinical-Translational Research: Cognitive Neuroscience, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Related Dementias The 3-D Center for Neurological Disorders at the University of California, Irvine, directed by Dr. Ali Ezzati, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our multidisciplinary research team in the Department of Neurology. Our group conducts clinical, translational, and computational research focused on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, cognitive aging, neurodegenerative disease, neuroinformatics, digital health, and advanced methods for analyzing large-scale biomedical data. The 3-D Center applies statistical modeling, machine learning, and data-driven approaches to clinical, imaging, biomarker, cognitive, and longitudinal datasets to better understand disease progression, diagnosis, heterogeneity, and risk prediction in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. This position is ideal for candidates interested in building an academic or research career at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, clinical neurology, epidemiology, data science, biostatistics, neuroimaging, and translational dementia research. Research Areas Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, including LATE and other neurodegenerative disorders Cognitive aging and cognitive decline Neuroepidemiology and risk prediction Longitudinal cohort studies and clinical trial datasets Neuroimaging, biomarkers, cognition, and multimodal data integration Machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive modeling Digital health, remote assessment, and clinical research informatics Development and validation of tools to support diagnosis, prognosis, and clinical trial enrichment Responsibilities Analyze large-scale clinical, cognitive, imaging, biomarker, and longitudinal datasets Develop, validate, and interpret statistical and machine learning models Lead and contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and conference presentations Participate in grant writing and the development of new research proposals Collaborate with investigators across neurology, epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, cognitive neuroscience, and related fields Contribute to study design, data harmonization, reproducible workflows, data collection and research dissemination Mentor students and junior researchers, as appropriate Basic Qualifications Applicants must have a recent or anticipated PhD, MD/PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field. Strong written and oral communication skills are expected, including evidence of scholarly productivity through publications, presentations, or related research outputs. Preferred Qualifications Experience with longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, mixed-effects models, or causal inference Experience with machine learning, predictive modeling, or AI methods Familiarity with Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, cognitive aging, or neurodegenerative disease research Experience working with cohort studies, clinical trials, electronic health records, neuroimaging, biomarkers, or cognitive data Interest in clinical and translational neuroscience, digital health, neuroinformatics, or dementia-focused research Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team Location This is an in-person position based at the University of California, Irvine campus in Irvine, California. Salary The salary range for this position is $69,073–$82,836 , based on the UC Postdoctoral Scholar salary scale and commensurate with experience.
