Step into an engaging contract opportunity supporting middle school students as a Special Day Class Special Education Teacher. Located near Fairfield, CA, this role serves a classroom of 12 students in grades 6-8 and seeks a compassionate, skilled educator dedicated to fostering student growth and development.
Key qualifications include:
- Active California Special Education credential with authorization for Mild/Moderate disabilities (required)
- Experience working in Special Day Class settings, preferably with middle school-aged children
- Strong classroom management and communication abilities
- Collaborative spirit and willingness to work closely with general education staff, support personnel, and families
- Proficiency in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Primary responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging instruction tailored to diverse learning needs within a self-contained classroom
- Develop and implement IEPs, collaborating with the IEP team to set goals and monitor student progress
- Provide direct support and differentiated instruction for students with mild to moderate disabilities
- Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment promoting student growth academically, socially, and emotionally
- Effectively communicate with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and support strategies
The contract runs from ASAP through June 6, 2027, following a full-time school schedule: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 am - 3:00 pm Fridays.
This position offers an hourly rate between $40 and $55, based on experience and credentials. Candidates also gain access to weekly pay, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a matching 401k program, highly competitive compensation, and a flexible spending account.
