PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a full‑time, inpatient Obstetric APC. The position provides both primary and specialty medical services within a University Health Sciences hospital unit. Responsibilities Coordinate inpatient care, consultations/referrals, referring provider follow‑up, and discharges. Collaborate with attendings, residents, nurses, medical students, health‑care assistants, and unlicensed support staff. Work closely with the inpatient health‑care team regarding patient health plans and treatment. Order, interpret, and evaluate labs and diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and needs. Perform selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic purposes within scope of validated competence. Initiate or recommend medical drug therapies or other related treatments in accordance with approved protocols and policy. Counsel patients, families, and significant others about health and illness, promoting health maintenance. Evaluate, plan, implement, and re‑evaluate care for individuals requiring emergency measures. Comply with medical records policies regarding complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiate and maintain required records and legal documents. Participate in quality improvement activities. Minimum Qualifications Required: Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Preferred: Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS (may be required by department or privileging criteria), Utah State prescriptive privileges, and a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent (the only acceptable equivalency is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner). Applicants must also obtain a nationally accredited certification upon completion of the Master’s or equivalence. Preferences 2+ years of experience in a clinical environment. Academic experience, supervisory abilities, and Spanish‑speaking capabilities welcomed. Additional services may be supported based on specific provider expertise. Exceptional leadership, communication, and administrative skills, and the ability to work independently. Superior prioritization, efficiency, organization, thoroughness, and time‑management skills. Experience with student and resident education as a critical component of the role. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work Environment: Hospital environment, nearly continuously. Physical Requirements: Hearing, listening, talking (nearly continuously); repetitive hand motion, walking, standing, sitting (often).
