Job Title: Senior Employment & Class Action Litigation Attorney (Plaintiff-Side) Department: Litigation Reports To: Managing Partner / Director of Litigation FLSA Status: Exempt Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Senior Employment & Class Action Attorney plays a vital role in leading the firm’s high-stakes litigation portfolio. This individual takes primary responsibility for managing complex wage-and-hour class actions, PAGA actions, and systematic employment discrimination claims from initial intake through trial or final court-approved settlement. The ideal candidate balances aggressive, strategic advocacy with high-level operational oversight, acting as a key mentor to junior litigation staff and collaborating with executive leadership to optimize case workflows and maximize firm growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Case Management: Take full ownership of a staggered, high-value docket of complex employment class and representative actions, establishing long-term litigation plans and timelines. Advanced Motion Practice: Draft, refine, and argue complex legal briefs, including motions for class certification, oppositions to summary judgment, and complex settlement approvals. Depositions & Written Discovery: Direct comprehensive discovery strategies, manage extensive document reviews, and personally execute the depositions of high-level corporate representatives, key witnesses, and industry experts. Mediation & Settlement Execution: Architect creative valuation models for complex actions, represent plaintiffs in high-stakes mediation sessions, and draft exhaustive settlement agreements that meet rigorous judicial scrutiny. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide active instruction, routine feedback, and career development guidance to junior associates, paralegals, and legal intake specialists. Operational Collaboration: Partner with firm leadership to build data-driven intake pipelines, streamline case screening mechanisms, and scale internal litigation infrastructures. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Worker Advocacy Focus: Deep, fundamental understanding of employee rights and a proven commitment to prosecuting corporate workplace misconduct. Complex Litigation Mastery: Authoritative knowledge of class certification standards, electronic discovery (e-discovery) best practices, and regional wage-and-hour or labor code frameworks. Communication & Presentation: Masterful legal writing and persuasive oral advocacy skills capable of influencing judicial rulings and commanding respect from opposing counsel. Organizational Agility: Exceptional ability to manage competing statutory deadlines across multiple active litigation matters without sacrificing quality. Education and Experience Requirements Juris Doctor (J.D.): Required from an ABA‑accredited law school. Bar Admission: Active member in good standing with the State Bar, with no history of disciplinary actions. Professional Experience: 7+ years of dedicated practice in employment law, with at least 4 years focused heavily on Plaintiff‑side class actions or collective/representative litigations. Proven Track Record: Demonstrated history of securing successful case outcomes, high-value settlements, or class certifications. Physical Demands and Work Environment Travel: Occasional travel may be required for depositions, court appearances, and mediations.
