Role Description The Charge Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based in Riverview, FL, responsible for overseeing daily nursing operations on the assigned unit. This role coordinates patient care activities, assigns and supervises nursing staff, and ensures adherence to clinical standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. The Charge Nurse provides direct patient care as needed, supports staff with complex clinical situations, and facilitates effective communication among physicians, nurses, and other care team members. Daily responsibilities include monitoring patient flow, managing staffing and scheduling needs, assisting with admissions and discharges, and promoting a positive, collaborative work environment. The Charge Nurse also participates in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and implementation of best practices to support excellent patient outcomes and the mission of AdventHealth West Florida. Qualifications Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida and graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred). Demonstrated clinical expertise in an acute care setting, with prior charge, supervisory, or leadership experience strongly preferred. Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex and rapidly changing situations. Effective communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills to lead multidisciplinary teams and support patients and families. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems, documentation standards, and basic computer skills necessary for clinical operations. Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and alignment with AdventHealth’s mission, values, and whole-person care philosophy. Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to meet physical demands such as standing, walking, and lifting patients or equipment.
