Equipment Engineer

Job Description

Actalent Services, LLC is seeking a hands-on Equipment Engineer to support the assembly, integration, testing, and validation of custom test stations used for product sub-assembly and final assembly verification activities. This role works closely with engineering teams to build, configure, troubleshoot, and validate complex test systems while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience with electromechanical assembly, hardware troubleshooting, and test equipment integration in an engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, telecommunications, or defense environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, integrate, and configure custom test stations according to engineering documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
\n
• Install and integrate mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components required for test system operation.
\n
• Troubleshoot hardware, system integration, and functionality issues identified during assembly and testing activities.
\n
• Execute functional testing, validation, and verification activities while accurately documenting results.
\n
• Perform electrical support activities, including cable routing, wiring, connector installation, fiber handling, and light soldering.
\n
• Review engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and configuration requirements to ensure accurate and compliant system builds.
\n
• Document build issues, test results, corrective actions, and integration findings throughout the project lifecycle.
\n
• Partner with engineering and development teams to resolve technical issues and support test station readiness and deployment efforts.
\n
• Support system integration and validation activities while maintaining adherence to project schedules and quality requirements.
\n
• Follow all applicable safety, ITAR, CUI, and customer-specific compliance requirements.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n
• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, Electronics Technology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.

• Experience supporting mechanical assembly, electromechanical integration, or test equipment builds.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
\n
• Experience troubleshooting hardware, electrical, or electromechanical systems.
\n
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and common test equipment used in assembly and validation environments.
\n
• Experience with cable routing, connector installation, and basic wiring practices.
\n
• Strong organizational, communication, and technical documentation skills.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

\n
• Experience supporting engineering prototype builds, manufacturing equipment, laboratory systems, or custom test stations.
\n
• Fiber optic cable handling, termination, or splicing experience.
\n
• Experience working within aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or advanced manufacturing environments.
\n
• Knowledge of engineering change processes, revision control, and configuration management practices.
\n
• Experience supporting system integration, validation, verification, and troubleshooting activities.
\n
• Familiarity with quality management systems and structured testing procedures.
