POSITION OVERVIEW

Senior Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for Accounts Payable Administration including proper and timely payment of all invoices and vendor management. Assist with preparation of and issuance of annual 1099s.

This position is accountable to the Accounting Manager.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES of a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist (not meant to be an all inclusive list)

• Reviews invoices and check requests and acts as end user support in purchasing system.
• Prepares and processes accounts payable checks, ACH payments, and autopay. Reconciles payments, prepare analysis of accounts, monitors vendor accounts to ensure payments are up to date, and resolves discrepancies in accounting software.
• Contributes to special projects and create efficiencies through automation.
• Complies with organizational policies and procedures.
• Partners with Oakwood’s Supply Chain Manager and Contracts Manager to resolve vendor issues.
• Corresponds with vendors and respond to inquiries.
• Completes and submits sales tax exempt certificates.
• Collaborates with leadership to set departmental goals, develops and administers training.
• Other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the Finance Department.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS of a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

• Knowledge of general accounting functions and principles.
• Accurate and detail oriented.
• Demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and implement new software and automation.
• Ability to handle confidential information.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING

• Associate degree in accounting or three or more years equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other data applications; advanced Excel skills preferred.
