- # HR Benefits SpecialistApplylocations: Human Resourcesposted on: Posted Yesterdayjob requisition id: JR103047**Summary**The Benefits Specialist supports the City’s health, wellbeing, and retirement programs through employee and retiree-facing support, plan administration, compliance coordination, and vendor management. This role ensures employees have a clear and positive experience navigating their benefits.**Pay Range**: $51,563.20 - 65,665.60 (Depending on qualifications and experience)**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** *include the following. Other duties may be assigned*.* Serve as the primary point of contact for employee and retiree related questions as it pertains to health, wellbeing, and retirement benefits.* Guide employees through eligibility, enrollment, qualifying life events, and general benefits navigation.* Partner with carriers and vendors to resolve coverage issues and escalated employee concerns.* Support annual open enrollment, including communications, presentations, scheduling, employee assistance, and documentation.* Support the creation and presentation of and distribute benefits communications such as FAQs, reminders, newsletters, and informational materials.* Partner with team members to support enrollment life cycle including eligibility reviews, dependent verification, enrollment accuracy checks and more.**Minimum Qualifications*** High School Diploma or G.E.D* 2-3 years of related experience Intermediate experience with MS Office* Ability to comfortably lead employee presentations and meetingsOr an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.**Preferred Qualifications****Education/ Experience*** 3+ years of direct experience in benefits administration, human resources, or customer support preferred* Advanced level experience in MS Office* Direct experience developing and/or leading group presentations, meetings or events- both instructor-led and virtual**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities*** Intermediate knowledge of business practices and procedures* Consistent attention to detail and ability to proactively seek opportunities for process improvements* Strong problem-solving skills* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy* Ability to present information in an organized, logical manner and ensure execution as expected for all core functions* Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette skills* Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment* Ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to employees’ personal health information**Licenses and Certifications*** Valid Class C Texas driver's license**Physical Requirements / Work Environment**The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
