Overview The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for a Construction Manager. Responsible for construction oversight of the Company’s planned capital and developer projects. The Construction Manager supports the Project Management Office to ensure that projects are built as per plans and specifications. Manages the day to day activities the of internal and external construction team so that projects are completed on budget and on schedule. Reviews plans and specifications in design and provides constructability feedback. Coordinates complex activities such as pipeline shutdowns, pump station start ups and operating without reservoirs with Customer Service, Project Management, Engineering, Regulators, Contractors, and Operations. Work Location and Schedule This position will travel between service areas near Jacksonville, FL. Schedule is Monday through Friday. After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required. Must be available to work shift work; weekend scheduling may be required. What You'll Do Essential Functions Responsible for understanding the Local, OHSA and Nexus safety requirement and enforcing a safe work environment. Ability to read structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, process engineering construction plans and specifications Provide input about constructability during the design process An understand local building code and environmental statues Reviewing and managing complex construction contracts Assist with project estimating and project budget development Work with project team to gather and, analyze technical data for the preparation of reports to management and governmental agencies. May require specialized investigation and analysis within any of the major engineering principles. Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on construction projects With the project team use Critical Path Methods to work to plan site work and develop implementation schedules Responsible for assisting the department leadership with establishing and carrying out departmental policies and procedures. Assists the Project Management Office Leadership with preparation of the annual capital budget, department budget, forecasting future department manpower and equipment needs and planning cost-effective strategies. Responsible for assisting Project Management Leadership with writing proposals for consultant contract projects. May have other job related duties assigned by management. What You'll Bring Experience Minimum of ten years of progressive construction experience in the water industry. Two years’ experience leading teams. Working knowledge of public works projects and water collection, distribution and treatment systems. Education High School diploma or equivalent Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Sharepoint, Construction Project Management Software such as Autodesk PowerPoint, and Visio Class C or better for Water Treatment and/or Wastewater Treatment and/or collection and/or Wastewater Collection. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Preferred, Project Management Institute Construction Professional (PMI-CP) or other professional organization equivalent designations. Has ability to perform water industry routine engineering practices and supervise personnel as assigned. Must be detail and goal oriented, able to independently plan and execute projects with minimal or no supervision. Often under deadline pressure, must be able to work effectively with several projects simultaneously. Experience with construction engineering/management, reviewing shop drawings and managing construction change orders is necessary. Has ability to issue and receive oral and written instructions. Proven knowledge in the methods and theories of water production and distribution. Ability to manage and coordinate several projects and assignments at one time.
