Company Description Welcome Home Housing Inc. (WHH) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2004 by families seeking better, person-centered housing options for loved ones living with mental illness. WHH provides affordable, permanent housing that emphasizes support, skill-building, and self‑reliance, helping residents move from dependence toward greater independence. The organization focuses on fostering self‑confidence and empowerment through individualized goals, with staff and volunteers working collaboratively with residents to problem‑solve and encourage personal growth. WHH offers communal, family‑like living environments across five houses in the Rosemont and Rancho Cordova areas of greater Sacramento, CA, serving up to 24 individuals. Residents benefit from a strong sense of belonging, friendships, and stability without time‑limited requirements to move out. Role Description The Treasurer is a volunteer member of WHH’s leadership team, responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial health and reporting. This hybrid role is based in Sacramento, CA, with some work‑from‑home flexibility for tasks that can be completed remotely. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include reviewing and monitoring budgets, tracking income and expenses, and ensuring accurate, timely financial records in coordination with staff or contracted accounting support. The Treasurer prepares regular financial statements for the Board of Directors, supports compliance with nonprofit and regulatory requirements, and helps develop financial policies and internal controls. The role may also involve assisting with grant and funding proposals, participating in board and committee meetings, and providing financial insights to support strategic planning and long‑term sustainability. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping, including budgeting, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting. Knowledge of nonprofit financial practices and basic compliance requirements (e.g., 501(c)(3) regulations, audits, and reporting) or willingness to learn. Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret and explain financial information to non‑financial stakeholders. Proficiency with common financial tools and software (e.g., spreadsheets, accounting systems) and comfort working with digital records. Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work closely with board members, staff, and volunteers in a mission‑driven environment. Commitment to WHH’s mission of supporting individuals living with mental illness, with sensitivity, respect, and a person‑centered mindset. Prior board or governance experience is helpful but not required; experience in housing, mental health, or social services is a plus.
