Senior Cloud Data Engineer

Salary: $91,700 - 163,700 per year Requirements:

• We need at least 5 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise data warehouse and analytics solutions both on-premises and in the cloud.
• We need at least 3 years of hands-on cloud data engineering experience with Azure technologies.
• We need at least 3 years of experience working on data engineering teams, including offshore teams, across the full product lifecycle from requirements through deployment.
• We need practical experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake, ADLS Gen2, Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, Python, Spark/PySpark, and ETL/ELT development.
• We need hands-on experience with Azure platform administration, including performance tuning and workload management.
• We need a strong understanding of enterprise data warehousing, dimensional modeling, Star and Snowflake schema design, data quality, governance, metadata-driven frameworks, data lineage, source-to-target mapping, and scalable cloud data pipeline architecture.
• We need experience designing and delivering healthcare data and analytics solutions, including claims data, payment integrity, cloud modernization, warehouse migration, and platform transformation.
• We need experience implementing CI/CD and DevOps practices with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and automated deployment frameworks.
• We need experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• We need hands-on experience with AI-enabled data engineering tools.
• We need the ability to partner with AI Engineering on RAG pipelines, embedding strategies, and vector stores grounded in EHR data, clinical documentation, and medical literature.
• We need the ability to travel 10–20% as needed.
• Preferred qualifications include certifications in Azure Administrator, Snowflake, Azure, Databricks, or Cloud Data Engineering.
• Preferred experience includes working across Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud.
• Preferred experience includes healthcare claims, member, enrollment, or clinical data.

• We provide technical leadership in designing and engineering the modernization of legacy data platforms, ETL/ELT processes, and enterprise data warehouses in public cloud environments.
• We review and assess existing SSIS, SQL Server, and legacy ETL implementations and define modernization strategies.
• We design, build, and implement cloud-native data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Snowflake, Databricks, and other Azure services.
• We develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming workloads.
• We create source-to-target mappings and build ingestion frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
• We construct and optimize cloud data warehouses, data marts, and lakehouse architectures.
• We implement full and incremental loading patterns, change data capture, and automated data validation.
• We perform data profiling, quality assessment, and root cause analysis for data issues.
• We create process flows using diagramming tools such as Visio.
• We automate pipeline orchestration using scheduling tools such as Airflow.
• We conduct ETL/ELT unit testing, participate in system and integration testing, and resolve solution defects.
• We design and deliver enterprise data warehouse solutions using dimensional modeling concepts, including star and snowflake schemas and fact/dimension structures.
• We work with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• We implement data security, privacy, governance, and compliance controls.
• We ensure adherence to organizational standards for data protection, auditability, and data quality.
• We manage highly sensitive PHI/PII, claims, provider, clinical, and member data while supporting risk adjustment and quality measurement programs in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
• We establish data lineage, monitoring, and operational support processes.
• We implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using GitHub Actions and related modern delivery tools.
• We support Agile delivery and contribute across requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• We assess current-state data platforms and develop future-state cloud data architecture roadmaps aligned with business goals and enterprise strategy.
• We define architecture patterns, integration approaches, data flows, and technical design specifications for large-scale modernization efforts.
• We create implementation roadmaps, effort estimates, technical dependency maps, and migration strategies for cloud transformation programs.
• We mentor junior engineers and help advance engineering best practices.
• We collaborate with stakeholders across business, architecture, analysis, development, and project teams.
• We proactively identify implementation risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
• We build strong relationships with client technical teams through clear written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication.
• We work closely with business analysts and subject matter experts to understand business needs and deliver practical solutions.
