Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor - Jail Psychiatric Services

The University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for a Health Sciences Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor to serve as a teaching attending physician at the Sacramento County Jail with a culturally diverse patient population. The Jail Psychiatric Service provides inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient clinical services at the Sacramento County Main Jail and Rio Consumnes Correctional Center. The applicant will provide clinical leadership in psychiatric treatment settings staffed by multidisciplinary clinicians and trainees. The applicant will also be supervising general psychiatry residents, combined residents in IM/Psych FM/Psych, and medical students. Experience with inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient treatment in carceral settings is highly desired. Time is allocated for administration, didactic teaching, case conferences, and supervision. In addition, the applicant will engage in scholarly or creative activities derived from and in support of their clinical teaching, professional and service activities. The candidates will also evaluate and treat their own patients. The incumbent will provide teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations, provide service to department and school committees. This individual should also have ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment and adhere to University policies and procedures. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has approximately 65 residents in six residency training programs and 90 faculty and staff psychiatrists and psychologists at the UC Davis Medical Center and the Northern California VA Health System. The Department provides a stimulating teaching and academic environment.
