Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Biospecimen Coordinator to join our team. This role involves handling various biospecimen samples, ensuring accurate data entry, and maintaining compliance with protocols and regulations. You will play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations and contributing to important health initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and perform accurate data entry for all specimens entering the laboratory.
• Verify information on requisition forms with collection containers for accuracy.
• Capture and enter specimen information into computer database systems such as LIMS and Bioinventory.
• Document within the electronic master file, including uploading/completing documents and using document exchange portals.
• Keep up with multiple project protocols and requirements.
• Examine specimens for adequacy and label and measure volumes for samples.
• Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate sample processing.
• Take pictures of data on specimen containers for quality control.
• Pack and ship specimens to appropriate facilities when required.
• Properly store specimen samples as needed.
• Assist clients and project managers with inquiries about specimen requirements and test turnaround times.
• Identify and document situations that may impact sample integrity, notifying management and project managers.
• Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste responsibly.
• Sort and prepare paperwork for scanning.
• Answer the loading dock door for incoming shipments and couriers.
• Perform administrative duties including filing paperwork and answering phones.
• Sanitize work stations regularly.
• Work collaboratively with all team members and demonstrate respect for all colleagues.
• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company procedures and policies.

• Bachelor's Degree in the Sciences (Biology Preferred)
• Strong data entry skills with proficiency in typing
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or related work environment
• Proficient with MS Office and Teams
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Ability to handle biological materials and perform high-level accuracy tasks
• Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs, work in protective equipment, and sit/stand for long periods
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• High level of attention to detail with problem-solving skills
• Ability to work overtime when needed

• Clinical Trial Experience is preferred
• Previous medical/laboratory experience is a plus
• Medical tech background or medical assistant experience is advantageous
• Science background or knowledge is beneficial
• Experience with specimen collection, processing, handling, and labeling is valuable

You will be working in a biobanking, bioprocessing, and analytics environment, with a focus on handling incoming samples such as saliva, DNA, blood, stool, and urine. This role requires the ability to lift up to 40lbs, work in protective equipment, and sit/stand for long periods. You will be contributing to important health initiatives, making a significant impact during the health crisis.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Piscataway, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Piscataway,NJ.
