About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Dayshift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Must have experience with EPIC. Description: The unit is a 29-bed facility currently under construction. All beds will be equipped for stepdown patients. Opening is expected in the first quarter of 2026. Nurse to patient ratios for stepdown are 3:1. For the floor, the ratio is 6:1. The unit serves both floor and stepdown patients based on needs. The patient population is diverse, primarily with medical diagnoses. We are looking for both new and experienced nurses. Candidates should be able to manage a 6 patient load for med-surg or a 3 patient load for stepdown units. RNs will have written orders to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, and PCA medications. Charge nurses and house supervisors work 24/7. Initially, charge RNs may take an assignment, but the goal is to always have a free charge RN. There are clinical associates available on the unit. The ideal ratio is 1 CA for every 10 RNs. CPAP and BiPAP equipment will be used on both floors. HiFlow and vents are available in the stepdown area; if settings need adjustments, patients will be transferred to ICU. A remote telemetry surveillance center is available for monitoring. RNs are not required to read their own telemetry strips, as central monitoring is provided. Self-scheduling is not guaranteed, but every effort will be made to accommodate requests. Agency positions may be posted primarily as weekend shifts. Expect to work approximately half of all recognized holidays. There is no call or standby requirement. RNs may need to float to other units as necessary. Scrubs should consist of combinations of royal blue and white.
