We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team at Central Park Counseling Center. This full-time position enables you to work from the comfort of your own home while providing essential mental health services to a diverse clientele in Joliet, Illinois. Work Environment

This role offers a remote work setting, allowing you to maintain a flexible work schedule while still being actively engaged in our outpatient office environment. Despite being remote, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team comprised of mental health professionals who are dedicated to delivering comprehensive care and support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations and assessments, establishing a solid foundation for understanding each client’s unique needs.
• Document all interactions and treatment plans meticulously from initial consultation through to completion, ensuring continuity of care.
• Develop customized intervention strategies and recovery plans for a broad range of clients, including individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, employing a variety of therapeutic techniques tailored to individual client needs.
• Monitor client progress throughout therapeutic engagements, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate effectively with fellow healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and psychiatrists, to design and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
• Engage with psychiatrists and attending physicians when clients require hospitalization, providing essential updates and follow-up care strategies.
• Proactively identify potential barriers to recovery and implement strategies to mitigate these challenges, fostering client resilience and growth.
• Support family members and primary caregivers with resources and strategies to address mental health challenges, enhancing the client’s support network.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will engage various client demographics, focusing on individuals experiencing mental health disorders, behavioral challenges, and emotional distress. You will be trusted to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds, assisting them through their mental health challenges and recovery journeys.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited program is required.
• Must hold a valid professional license as either an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) is necessary.
• Strong command of electronic health record systems, specifically familiarity with platforms such as AVATAR.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience as a mental health counselor, particularly in an outpatient or remote setting, is highly desirable.
• Experience addressing a range of physical, emotional, and addiction disorders, along with knowledge of corresponding treatment approaches.
• In-depth familiarity with American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and protocols.
• Comprehensive understanding of the pharmacological interventions prescribed by medical specialists and their effects on mental health.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a naturally empathetic disposition that fosters trust and rapport with clients.

Compensation and Benefits
