Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for ED patients across age groups as assigned
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care using the nursing process in collaboration with the medical team
• Monitor patient status, administer medications, and respond to emergencies following protocols
• Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and post-discharge needs; document care accurately
• Delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff according to competence and scope of practice
• Maintain situational awareness of patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality; ensure accurate EPIC documentation

Requirements

• Licenses/Certifications: RN licensure active in California; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required at time of hire
• Emergency Department specifics: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required at time of hire; TNCC within 1 year; IV Sedation competency within 6 months
• Dysrhythmia competency demonstrated during orientation; ongoing proficiency per department standards
• Experience: Minimum of two years of recent acute care/ER experience
• Education: BSN preferred
• Additional: EPIC electronic health record experience preferred; ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment
