Accounting Assistant

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team. We are a family-owned transportation company specializing in refrigerated freight throughout the Southeast . This position will support the day-to-day accounting (80%) and administrative duties of trucking operation (20%). The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with numbers and documentation, and able to communicate effectively across departments. We utilize McLeod Software throughout our operation. Previous McLeod or transportation industry experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Process and maintain invoices, payments, and accounting records
• Assist with customer billing and freight documentation
• Review driver paperwork, trip documents, receipts, and supporting documentation for accuracy
• Assist with driver settlements, reimbursements, and deductions
• Research and resolve billing and payment discrepancies
• Enter and verify information within McLeod
• Assist with account reconciliations and routine accounting reports
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records
• Communicate with drivers, dispatch, operations, customers, and vendors as needed
• Assist with month-end processes and other accounting or administrative duties
• Maintain confidentiality when handling financial and employee information

Qualifications

• Previous accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or administrative experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable working with numbers and financial records
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Transportation or trucking industry experience is a plus
• McLeod Software experience is a plus
