Senior Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead day-to-day HR operations for our U.S. subsidiaries. This hands-on role includes employee relations, full-cycle recruiting, payroll-vendor oversight, employment compliance, and direct coordination with our headquarters in Japan. The ideal candidate can work independently, exercise sound judgment, and recognize when to consult leadership, Japan HQ, or outside specialists. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and local leadership. Address employee concerns and coordinate employee-relations matters with leadership and Japan HQ. Maintain HR policies and confidential employee records. Manage full-cycle recruiting, including job descriptions, agency relationships, interviews, offers, and onboarding. Review payroll data prepared by an outside vendor, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrections. Support compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws and reporting requirements. Prepare required HR reports and submit workforce data to Japan HQ. Implement corporate HR initiatives across U.S. locations. Coordinate relocation, onboarding, and repatriation support for employees assigned from Japan. Partner with other U.S. locations to maintain consistent HR practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field—or equivalent experience. Several years of HR generalist or HR management experience. Experience serving as a sole or lead HR contact is preferred. Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements. Full-cycle recruiting and offer-negotiation experience. Payroll knowledge sufficient to review vendor-prepared data and identify errors. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar reporting tools. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and elevate complex matters appropriately. Strong discretion when handling confidential employee and payroll information. Authorization to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English. Experience within a Japanese-affiliated or U.S.-Japan business environment. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification. Experience with HRIS or payroll systems such as ADP, Paylocity, or Workday. Experience supporting expatriates or international employee relocations.
