About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified IMC RN in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 27101!

• Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity 48-bed unit serving PCU and Med-Surg/Telemetry patients at a target ratio of 1:4-5
• Monitor and manage patients with COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, COVID-19, influenza, pulmonary embolism, and related comorbidities
• Operate and manage special equipment including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, chronic trach/vent patients, and cardiac drips (Dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin); no nurse assigned more than one vent patient at a time
• Perform telemetry monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Utilize unit systems including Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR for documentation and communication
• Float to like units within or near the facility as needed; collaborate with on-shift resources including an Admission/Discharge Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, Vascular Access Team, RRT, Code Team, and Behavioral Health Team

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Active RN license in NC or a Compact state required (pending license acceptable for submission)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proficiency in IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry, and CPAP/BiPAP
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during the first week of assignment
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the standard rate

• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with higher-acuity respiratory patient populations including those requiring chest tubes and cardiac drip management
• Familiarity with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems

• Robust on-unit support structure including a team lead, respiratory therapists, an Assistant Nurse Manager on shift seven days a week, and dedicated specialty teams to help manage high-acuity patient loads
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available with expected hours of 36 per week and block scheduling accommodated when unit needs are met
