Certified Police Officer (State of Florida Certified and Prior Law Enforcement Experience) Description

$10,000 RETENTION INCENTIVE

ELIGIBILITY

1. If candidate possesses an Associate's Degree, equivalent (i.e. 60 credits), or higher degree from an accredited college/university):

• 5,000 will be paid upon hire
• 5,000 will be paid upon successful completion of probation as a Certified Officer

2. If candidate only possesses a High School Diploma or Equivalent:

• 5,000 will be paid upon hire
• 2,500 will be paid upon successful completion of probation as a Certified Officer
• 2,500 will be paid upon successful completion of (5) years of service as a Certified Officer and possession of an Associate's Degree, equivalent (i.e. 60 credits) or higher degree from an accredited college/university

REPAYMENT OF RETENTION INCENTIVE

Applicants must meet all recruitment requirements and hiring standards. Incentive is subject to applicable payroll taxes All incentive monies stated above will require 100% repayment if employment ends for any reason within five (5) years from the date of successful completion of probation as a Certified Officer (payment must be made within a two (2) year timeframe)

SALARY

$70,215 - $113,740 Continuous police officer experience - begin at a step equivalent to the years of service up to a maximum of step 3 An additional pay step will be added to the starting salary with an Associate's Degree, equivalent (i.e. 60 credits) or higher degree from an accredited college/university General Statement of Job Under general supervision, performs general-duty police work in the protection of life and property, the prevention of crime, the apprehension of criminal suspects, and the general enforcement of laws and ordinances in a designated area on an assigned shift. May be responsible for various areas of assignment as indicated in the "Illustrative Examples of Work" below. Reports to a Police Sergeant or officer of higher rank. Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated) All applicants must : Possess High School Diploma or Equivalent Be nineteen (19) years of age at time of application Be a Citizen of the United States at the time of application Have the ability to possess a valid Florida Driver's License by time of employment Have passed the Basic Motor Skills test (valid for six (6) months) Have passed the Swim Test (valid indefinitely) Be a Citizen of the United States at the time of application Be of good moral character as defined by Florida Administrative Code 11B-27 Have no felony convictions Not have been dishonorably discharged from the military Possess an FDLE certificate Not have an open Internal Affairs Investigation Not have failed Town of Davie Background Investigation, Oral Board Interview, Polygraph or Psychological Exam within the past year Not have one or more drivers' license suspensions within five years of the date of this application Not have steroid usage within three (3) years of the date of this application Not have a DUI arrest and/or conviction in the last five years Not have visible tattoos above the collarbone on the neck, face, head, scalp, or on the hands.
