John & Molly’s Neighborhood Tavern is hiring a hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead daily BOH operations, support kitchen organization, and maintain consistency during active lunch and dinner service.

This role is best suited for a strong BOH leader who enjoys staying fully engaged on the line while helping strengthen execution, accountability, communication, and kitchen culture inside a fast-paced scratch kitchen.

About the Role

This is a hands-on kitchen leadership role inside an established neighborhood tavern with steady year-round business and a strong local following.

The Kitchen Manager will remain active on the line while overseeing daily kitchen execution, prep organization, food quality, inventory systems, ordering, and team support during busy service periods.

We are looking for someone who can help strengthen kitchen consistency while maintaining a calm, organized presence during active service.

This role is not designed for someone looking to operate strictly from the office or expo window. The position requires a leader who works directly alongside the team during prep and service.

The kitchen focuses on fresh seafood, steaks, sautéed dishes, tavern favorites, and craft beverages inside a fast-paced scratch kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen operations during busy lunch and dinner service
• Work the line and support the team during peak periods
• Prepare seafood, steaks, sautéed dishes, and tavern favorites with consistency
• Oversee ordering, receiving, inventory, and vendor communication
• Maintain recipe accuracy, food quality, and portion control
• Train, support, and motivate a 5–10 person kitchen team
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization
• Keep service moving efficiently during high-volume shifts
• Support a respectful, guest-focused kitchen culture

Qualifications

• BOH leadership experience as Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, Kitchen Lead, or similar
• Strong scratch kitchen and recipe execution skills
• Experience working hands-on in high-volume service
• Experience with ordering, inventory, and vendor management
• Strong sauté and hot line experience preferred
• Food safety certification preferred (ServSafe a plus)
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long shifts
• Reliable transportation and stable work history
