Monitor Technician Full Time, Day Shift, Job ID 1664312

Our primary function is to offer continuous nursing, medical, and other health and social services on a 24-hour basis, under physician directed care and RN supervision. The monitor technician operates under the direction of registered nurses in the Intensive Care Unit to monitor cardiac/telemetry units. Primary Responsibilities Continuous observation of cardiac/telemetry units with accurate assessment of cardiac rhythm and/or arrhythmias. Complete evaluation and mounting of at least two rhythm strips per patient per shift, plus evaluation and mounting of a rhythm strip when there is a change from the original rhythm. Provide nursing staff with a written report at the end of each shift. Communicate promptly and positively to the appropriate nursing staff when the patient exhibits any rhythm change, especially life‑threatening arrhythmias such as V‑Tach, V‑Fib, and Systole, and maintain a respectful climate for visitors, patients, and personnel. Organize the telemetry unit and report needed maintenance or repair of equipment appropriately. Demonstrate motivation and responsibility for self‑development and education; remain informed of changes by attending staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have completed and passed an EKG course or take a post‑test immediately after the six‑week course offered at the hospital. Prior Monitor Technician experience preferred but not required. Evaluative skills necessary for safe use of equipment and supplies. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with patients, visitors, and staff; ability to recognize and alter communication with patients who have communication impairments.
