Community Corrections Officer 3 (CCO3) – INTERNAL Location: Tukwila, WA (Seattle Community Justice Center, 1550 4th Ave South, Seattle, WA 98134) Effective Date: 7/1/2026 Monthly Salary Range (WFSE Level 60): $6,407.00 – $8,612.00 Job Overview Community Corrections officers work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to improve public safety. This lead CCO3 position provides training and coaching to other CCOs and serves as the Unit Duty Officer. Shift hours: 0800-1700 Monday–Friday. Duties Supervise individuals who have committed a crime and have been ordered to supervision in the community. Engage with supervised individuals to work toward positive change. Enforce supervision conditions and the law. Lead other Community Corrections Officers. Act as the Unit Duty Officer. Other duties as assigned or necessary. Minimum Required Qualifications Armed staff must have the ability to carry and properly utilize a department‑issued firearm. Note: Staff who do not qualify for legacy status under the provisions for arming are required to be armed, maintain firearm qualifications, and complete ongoing training. Must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in Washington. Must be willing and able to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds and anti‑social behaviors; review graphic materials; remain objective when dealing with individuals under supervision. Must possess one of the following: Two years as a Community Corrections Officer within the Washington State Department of Corrections. Bachelor’s degree (recognized by CHEA or US Department of Education) and three years of professional experience in adult or juvenile corrections, counseling, social work, social service, law enforcement or a closely related field, including at least three of the following: field visits, preparing written correspondence, assessing cases, referring people to resources, presenting cases in court or hearings. Equivalent combination of qualifying experience and education totaling seven years. Additional Competencies Community Relationships: Participate in the formation and maintenance of successful relationships with criminal justice partners and community resources. Observation: Observe and strategize personal action based on environmental conditions and human behavior. Stress Tolerance: Remain calm and rational while handling difficult situations, including volatile, threatening, or other crisis situations; intervene effectively. Professional Standards: Know and apply relevant law, policy, procedure, and practice; adhere to productivity standards and timelines; identify own training needs. Adaptability: Incorporate new information into existing frameworks; accept change; support agency through changes in law, policy, and procedure. Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment Complete felony disclosure and background check. Complete and pass psychological screening. Submit to drug testing. Complete orientation and all required training. Become familiar with and comply with all department policies and CBAs. Successfully complete the Firearms Academy and CIT training within prescribed timeframes, including maintaining firearm and CIT qualifications.
