Community Corrections Officer 2 (or CCO1 In‑training) Community Corrections Division – Seattle, WA Monthly Salary for CCO1: $4,880.00 to $6,563.00. Monthly Salary for CCO2: $5,948.00 to $7,994.00. Salary depends on qualifications. Minimum starting salary for a CCO1 placement begins at Step G: $5,659.00/monthly. We are recruiting for six full‑time, permanent Community Corrections Officer 2 vacancies, all based at the Tukwila Field Unit located at the Seattle Community Justice Center, 1550 4th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98144. All positions work a 0800‑1700 shift, Monday‑Friday. Overview of the Role The Community Corrections Officer (CCO) is responsible for the supervision, accountability, and reentry support of supervised individuals (S/Is) under Washington State law and agency policy. The role includes investigations, risk assessments, case documentation, and the enforcement of supervision conditions. Officers engage S/Is using motivational interviewing techniques and other evidence‑based interventions to promote positive change. Responsibilities Conduct investigations, searches, issue warrants, and make arrests. Complete intake and administer risk, needs, and substance‑abuse assessments. Manage electronic and hard‑copy files and reports. Engage supervised individuals using communication strategies such as motivational interviewing and principles of effective interventions. Enforce supervision conditions and the law, including presenting written documentation and oral testimony for courts or hearings. Identify, collect, document, process, and maintain evidence with proper chain of custody. Handle firearms and other weapons in accordance with department policies, maintain safety protocols, and wear appropriate safety equipment when outside the office. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to carry and effectively use a department‑issued firearm. Unrestricted Washington state driver’s license, legitimate vehicle operator. Willingness and ability to work with individuals who have criminal backgrounds and anti‑social behaviors; exposure to graphic materials. Demonstrated ability in at least three of the following areas (college‑level coursework, professional experience, or open‑access training): Written communication Critical thinking and analytical reasoning Conflict resolution Situational awareness Problem solving Organizational skill and time management Independent work and adaptability Must meet one of the following education/experience combinations for the level being hired: High school diploma or GED plus at least four years of qualifying experience. Associate or technical degree plus two years of qualifying experience. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Equivalent combination totaling four (CCO1) or five (CCO2) years of professional experience. Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment (All CCO Levels) Complete a felony disclosure form and submit to a criminal background check. Pass a psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation). Undergo drug testing in accordance with state policy. Complete orientation, all mandatory training, and the Firearms Academy and Control/Impedance Tactics (CIT) training within prescribed time frames. Maintain firearm eligibility and annual requalification, including handling of OC pepper spray or electronic immobilization devices if required.
