A growing aerospace and defense organization is seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager to lead complex military engine modernization and sustainment programs. This position will have full responsibility for program execution, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and cross-functional leadership for large-scale U.S. Government aviation programs.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in defense contracting, engine maintenance/overhaul programs, and profit-and-loss accountability while serving as the primary interface between government customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of high-value military aviation programs, ensuring all contractual, technical, schedule, and financial objectives are achieved.
• Maintain full ownership of program financial performance, including revenue, profitability, forecasting, and budget management.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for government customers regarding program status, contract performance, risk management, and deliverables.
• Manage strategic supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure compliance with contract requirements, production schedules, and performance expectations.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, finance, and logistics teams to ensure successful program execution.
• Develop and monitor key program metrics related to cost, quality, schedule adherence, production throughput, and customer satisfaction.
• Identify program risks and implement mitigation strategies to support operational and financial goals.
• Lead customer reviews, status meetings, and executive briefings while providing clear communication regarding program performance.
• Oversee contract modifications, scope changes, and additional work requests in accordance with government contracting requirements.
• Ensure timely submission of required reports, documentation, and customer deliverables.
• Support business growth initiatives, proposal efforts, and strategic planning activities for future government opportunities.
• Develop annual operating plans and budgets while providing regular executive-level reporting on program performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Program Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience supporting U.S. Government, Department of Defense, or aerospace programs.
• 5+ years of experience leading large-scale programs with direct profit-and-loss responsibility.
• Working knowledge of government contracting environments, including FAR and DFARS requirements.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams in manufacturing, MRO, aerospace, defense, or industrial operations.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and performance reporting.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills

Preferred

• Master's degree and/or PMP certification.
• Experience supporting military aviation, propulsion systems, engine overhaul, modernization, or sustainment programs.
• Background working directly with government customers and major defense contractors.
• Experience managing supplier and subcontractor performance within regulated environments.
• Familiarity with production planning, logistics, supply chain management, and maintenance operations.

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical capabilities with experience developing dashboards, KPIs, executive reports, and performance metrics.
• Ability to translate complex operational and financial data into actionable business insights.
