Private Equity and Venture Capital Finance Professional for AI Model Development

Role Overview

Apply deep finance expertise to help a leading AI research team improve how advanced AI models reason about real financial work. You will turn professional judgment into clear task standards, reference solutions, and evaluation benchmarks while working closely with researchers and program teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Review finance knowledge-work tasks and model outputs, identifying missing behaviors, weak reasoning, flawed assumptions, and answers that would not meet professional standards.
• Write detailed instruction specifications and golden solutions for financial problems.
• Create finance tasks that reflect real-world practice and define clear standards for correct, high-quality work.
• Design challenging finance benchmarks and evaluation sets to measure model improvement.
• Partner with researchers and adjacent domain specialists to develop finance-specific skills and tools, and to translate tacit financial judgment into consistent, teachable criteria.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of dedicated professional finance experience at a recognized institution, such as an investment bank, asset manager, private equity or credit fund, Big Four firm, large corporate finance function, or financial regulator. Generalist roles with only peripheral finance exposure do not qualify.
• Specialization in at least one core finance discipline, including corporate finance and FP&A, investment banking and M&A, asset or wealth management, private equity or private credit, quantitative finance and risk management, treasury, or accounting and audit.
• Progression to a senior individual contributor or leadership role, such as Vice President, Director, Principal, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, Controller, or CFO, with ownership of analysis and decisions.
• Strongly preferred: an MBA, MS, or PhD in finance, economics, accounting, or a quantitative field, and/or a recognized credential such as CFA, CPA, FRM, or an actuarial designation.
• Hands-on professional use of large language models and the ability to distinguish rigorous reasoning from plausible but incorrect answers.
• Excellent written communication and the ability to provide precise, well-structured feedback.

Work Terms

• Full-time W-2 employment, with an initial 6-month engagement and a reliable commitment of 40 hours per week.
• Hybrid role based in the Bay Area, California. You must live in the Bay Area and be available to work on-site with the client team multiple days each week when required.
• This is not a remote role. Candidates outside the Bay Area must relocate at their own expense before the engagement begins; relocation assistance is not available.
• You will work within the client’s tools alongside its research teams using client-issued accounts and equipment.
• Employment, payroll, benefits, and compliance are administered by the employer of record. This is a structured role within a client team, not a freelance or project-based engagement.

Compensation

$110 to $150 per hour.
