Position Summary WORK EXPERIENCE INSTRUCTORS or COORDINATORS: Adjunct POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District Location: District Wide Position Type: Adjunct Closing Date: Open Until Filled Responsibilities Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: The minimum qualifications for an instructor or coordinator of general or occupational work experience education, as defined in Section 55252, shall be the minimum qualifications in any discipline in which work experience may be provided at the college where the instructor or coordinator is employed. Desired qualifications: Equivalent degrees may be substituted by submitting a “Request for Equivalency Form” and attaching it during the application process. Foreign degrees: Applicants with foreign degrees must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC. (ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the online application. Hiring Conditions Submit official college transcripts as stated on application. Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment; renew every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment. Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense; clearance must be received prior to the first day of employment. Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Newly hired faculty members are required to submit official transcripts and a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam. The certificate must be renewed every 4 years. Employees may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor. Salary Salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and verifications of prior work experience. Instructors with advanced coursework or experience are placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month following receipt of documentation.
