THE POSITION
The Office of General Counsel is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented individual to provide clerical and legal office support within the Counsel Division. The Legal Assistant 2 with the Department of State supports essential legal work that keeps state operations organized and efficient. This role allows you to work closely with attorneys, prepare important documents, and ensure confidentiality. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on advanced legal assistant work, including drafting documents, processing filings, and supporting attorneys with complex procedures. You will help maintain compliance, confidentiality, and accuracy in all legal tasks. As a Legal Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Order Drafting: Draft legal orders for attorney review, ensuring correct legal language is selected
- Court Filing: Prepare and process filings with multiple courts following all required procedures
- Regulation Preparation: Prepare board regulations and complete required steps for delivery and electronic submission
- Team Support: Assist and train legal assistant team members on procedures and work guidelines
- Advanced Services: Perform advanced legal assistant tasks while maintaining confidentiality across all matters
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after six months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Legal Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
