School-Based Social Worker - Pontiac, Michigan

Your expertise will be valued during the Extended School Year (ESY) period from June 30, 2026, through August 6, 2026, with flexible hours up to 25 per week. Continue contributing through the Next School Year (NSY) from August 17, 2026, to June 11, 2027, with up to 35 hours weekly. All work is onsite, fostering strong relationships with students and staff.


Qualifications:

• Active Michigan school certification (310) required-please provide documentation upon presenting yourself for consideration.
• Previous experience as a social worker in school settings, ideally within K-12 or special education.
• If certification is not held, candidates must have supervision arranged prior to the interview process.
• Strong communication, advocacy, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to supporting diverse and exceptional learners.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct social work services to K-12 students in a special education district.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs.
• Engage in crisis intervention, group and individual counseling, and resource coordination as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation according to school and district practices.
