What you will do

You will serve as the senior HR leader for the plant and a trusted partner to Plant leadership, translating business priorities into a people strategy that supports safety, quality, delivery, cost, and culture.

You will lead labor and employee relations in a union-represented environment, ensuring constructive collaboration, contract administration, issue resolution, and consistent application of policies and practices. You will shape workforce planning, talent and succession, organizational design, and change management to meet production needs while strengthening engagement and retention.

You will ensure strong HR governance across compliance, ethics, and risk management, and drive continuous improvement of HR processes using data, insights, and feedback from the shop floor.

We are looking for a seasoned, multi-functional people leader who has earned credibility on the manufacturing floor. You understand the complexity of union environments, the urgency of production operations, and what it takes to lead across HR, Safety, and Training while keeping people and business outcomes at the center.

Your future team

• A site-based HR team supporting manufacturing operations and shared services partners

• Close collaboration with Plant leadership, line managers, and union representatives

• A strong network across Volvo Group HR for expertise in labor relations, rewards, and development

• Partners in HSE, Quality, Finance, and Industrial Engineering to align people and business outcomes

• Cross-functional teams supporting safety, training, workforce development, and operational performance

Who are you?

You are a strategic and hands-on HR leader who is comfortable spending time where the work happens and who builds credibility through listening, fairness, and follow-through. You bring deep experience in manufacturing HR and labor relations and understand the unique demands of supporting a large hourly workforce in a union environment.

You are equally comfortable thinking strategically with senior leaders and rolling up your sleeves to address issues on the manufacturing floor. You can navigate complexity with a calm, structured approach, build strong relationships with union partners, and balance the needs of employees, leaders, and the business.

You have experience leading multiple people-focused functions and building high-performing teams. You use data to guide decisions, communicate clearly with different audiences, and coach leaders to develop their teams, strengthen accountability, and improve performance. You act with integrity, protect confidentiality, and role-model Volvo Group values in everyday decisions.

What you bring

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required

• Master’s degree or advanced HR certification such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR strongly preferred

Experience

• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5+ years in a site-level HR leadership role

• Significant experience supporting a large, hourly unionized workforce in a manufacturing environment required

• Demonstrated experience in labor relations, including collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations and grievance management

• Experience leading multiple functions with direct accountability across HR, Safety, Training, or related people-focused functions

• Proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams

• Experience developing workforce strategies and managing high-volume hourly talent pipelines in a manufacturing environment preferred

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $185,000 - $210,000 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
