FINANCIAL ANALYST

The University of Alabama at Birmingham General Responsibilities: Administers externally sponsored awards from federal, nonprofit, foundation, and industry sponsors in myUABResearch by reviewing award documentation, verifying compliance requirements, and ensuring accurate award setup. Provides guidance to the data management specialists on sponsor regulations, institutional policies, and award processing activities. Assists the Associate Director of OSP Systems and Data Management in developing and implementing procedures that improve the efficiency and accuracy of award establishment, modifications, and budget allocations. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Conducts and documents complex financial analysis. Responsible for interpretation of requests for analysis. Develops methodologies to prepare analyses to address specific questions, concerns and requests for information presented by senior administrators. Determines appropriate assumptions and explains why they are appropriate. Performs duties using senior level financial skills. Responsible for review of analysis prepared by other units. Identifies strengths and weaknesses of information, determines whether assumptions used are appropriate, and effectively communicates concerns to preparing unit. Serves as a resource to other units in preparation of analysis. Coordinates special financial projects as needed. Identifies, obtains and assembles information from other units or departments in order to complete project. Performs other duties as assigned. Salary Pay Range: $58,660 – $95,320 Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
