Compensation is a salary range of $130,000.00 - $137,500.00 per year based on experience. Responsibilities Job Summary The Physician Assistant(PA) provides advancedclinical care, patienteducation, and proceduralsupport across multiplesurgical specialties withinthe practice. Workingcollaborativelywith surgeons andthe multidisciplinary careteam, the PAdelivers comprehensivepreoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative careto optimize patientoutcomes, ensure continuityof care, andpromote an exceptionalpatient experience. This position serves as a key clinical provider and liaison between patients, physicians, and staff, supporting a collaborative, patient-centered environment while upholding the organization's mission, values, and standards of clinical excellence. Essential FunctionsClinical Care Perform comprehensive patientassessments, includingobtaining medical historiesand conducting physicalexaminations. Evaluate patients inthe office andassistin developing individualizedtreatment plans incollaboration with theattending surgeon. Conduct preoperative evaluationsto determine patientreadiness for surgery. Order, interpret, andcommunicate laboratory,imaging, and diagnostictest results. Prescribe medications andtherapeutic treatmentsin accordance withstate regulationsand organizational policies. Document patient encounters, assessments, treatmentplans, and clinicalcommunications accuratelywithin the electronicmedical record (EMR). Surgical Care Assist surgeons inthe operating roomas a FirstAssistant during surgicalprocedures as assigned. Provide perioperative support, including patient preparation, positioning, wound exposure, hemostasis, suturing,and wound closure. Performoffice-based procedureswithin scope ofpractice, including woundcare, suture andstaple removal, injections, aspirations, dressing changes, andother approved procedures. Manage postoperative care, including incision evaluation, pain management, medicationadjustments, and monitoringfor complications. Evaluate and managepostoperative concernsin collaboration withthe supervising surgeon. Patient Education & CareCoordination Educate patients andfamilies regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgicalprocedures, expected outcomes, risks, and postoperativerecovery. Provide discharge instructions, medicationcounseling, activity restrictions, and follow-upcare guidance. Coordinate referrals tospecialists, physical oroccupational therapy, imagingcenters,home health services, and durable medicalequipment providers asappropriate. Ensure timely communicationof test resultsand treatment recommendations. Collaboration & Quality Collaborate effectivelywith physicians, nurses, medical assistants, anesthesiaproviders, and administrativestaff to ensurecoordinated, high-qualitypatient care. Participate in qualityimprovement initiatives, patient safety programs, and clinical workflowoptimization. Support practice standardsby maintaining compliancewith regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and evidence-basedclinical guidelines. Serve as aclinical resource forstaff andassist with onboardingand education relatedto clinical protocols. Maintain professionalismand foster aculture of teamwork, respect, accountability, and exceptional customerservice. Additional Responsibilities Participate in callcoverage as assigned. Assist with clinicalprojects and operationalinitiatives. Perform other dutiesas assigned. Current BLS certificationrequired. ACLS certification preferred. Infectious Disease Certified Experience Minimum of two(2) years ofexperience in asurgical specialty preferred. Previous experience firstassisting in theoperating room preferred. Experience managing preoperativeand postoperative surgicalpatients preferred. Experience in amultispecialty surgicalpractice is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge ofsurgical procedures, perioperativecare, and postoperativemanagement. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) required. Excellent interpersonal,communication, and patienteducation skills. Ability towork independently whilecollaborating effectivelywith physicians andhealthcare teams. Strong organizational skillswith the abilityto prioritize multipleresponsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated criticalthinking, problem-solving, and clinical decision-making abilities.
