Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
Location: Long Beach, CA
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Mid Shift | 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Travel Package: $1,267 Gross Weekly
Local Pay Rate: $25–$30/hour
The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures compliance with infection prevention standards, manufacturer instructions, and departmental policies while supporting safe patient care.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Sterile Processing Technician Certification ( CRCST, CIS, or equivalent )
- Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing experience
- Instrument Decontamination and Sterilization
- Surgical Instrument Identification and Assembly
- Infection Prevention and Control
- Instrument Inspection and Quality Assurance
- Autoclave and Sterilizer Operation
- Inventory Management
- Instrument Tracking Systems
- Documentation and Record Maintenance
- Computer Proficiency
- ANSI/AAMI Standards
- Manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
- Sterilization Techniques and Processes
- Surgical Instrument Care and Handling
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Quality and Safety Standards
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Operate washers, sterilizers, autoclaves, and related processing equipment
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
- Maintain sterilization records and instrument tracking documentation
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment
- Manage inventory and ensure instrument availability
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Complete computer documentation and processing records accurately
- Collaborate with team members to support efficient departmental workflow
