LENDING LEGAL ASSISTANT

An established Tampa Bay law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant for its growing government-backed lending practice in St. Petersburg, which handles SBA, USDA, and similar loan programs. The role keeps loan documents accurate, organized, and moving for the attorneys on these matters, and suits someone detail-focused who is comfortable working with documents. Government-backed lending is a specialized area, so the firm will consider a sharp, confident candidate who is eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and administrative support to attorneys handling government-backed loan matters
• Format, proofread, and finalize loan documents, closing checklists, and correspondence as directed by the attorneys
• Assemble and organize closing documents and keep loan files complete and current
• Track closing dates, deliverables, and deadlines on attorney calendars
• Schedule signings and coordinate document execution, notarization, and recording
• Communicate with lenders, borrowers, and other parties on scheduling and document status
• Maintain files in the firm’s document management system and assist with time entry

Qualifications

• Familiarity with loan procedures and documentation
• Experience with government-backed lending (SBA, USDA, or similar) strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail, with accuracy in documentation a priority
• Sharp, confident, and eager to learn a specialized practice
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems
• Clear written and verbal communication, with discretion on confidential matters
