Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician(MT or MLT)

Medical Technologist

In cooperation with the department manager, the medical technologist instructs and performs routine laboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory. Responsibilities include:

• Performs common testing procedures and reports test results.
• Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Performs quality control testing.
• Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.
• Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
• Demonstrate skill and accuracy in obtaining specimens for all age groups serviced.
• Observe safety, infection control, and risk management policies and procedures.
• Participate in continuing education programs and related professional activities.
• Perform any duties necessary that improves the overall efficiency and quality of the department.
• Monitor and control departmental supplies.
• Show competency in performing all laboratory testing procedures.

Qualifications:

Associates in Medical Laboratory Technician or Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Sciences Required. MLT or MT ASCP certification required.

1 year experience required.
