Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• 20-bed Pediatric CVICU unit in a 247-bed Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, with a nationally ranked congenital cardiology program (#7 by USNWR)
• High-acuity patient population ages 0–18 with congenital heart differences, post-surgical care, pre- and post-transplant management, s/p cath lab, VADs, ECMO, Impella, and renal replacement therapy (Aquadex)
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• Rotating shifts: days (0645–1845) and nights (1845–0645), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend or fewer (Fri/Sat/Sun)
• On-call requirement applies based on scheduling needs
• Float requirement to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as needed
• EMR: Epic (required); IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similarly acute facility, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience with fresh open-heart post-op patients and transplant care required
• Proficiency with specialty devices: Aquadex (renal replacement therapy), Impella, and ECMO required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Ability and competency to float to the PICU
• Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Former employees of any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before being eligible
• Orientation includes a general hospital orientation (NEO) followed by 2 days of departmental onboarding
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays; the unit standard is every other holiday
• RTO requires manager approval
• Robust unit support includes a free-floating charge nurse, resource nurse, unit secretary every shift, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy (24/7), cardiologist (24/7), and intensivist (24/7)
• Centralized and bedside cardiac monitoring with no dedicated telemetry monitoring tech
• Required scrub color: Navy
• Free parking available on-site
• Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
