Property Accounting Manager

Position Property Accountant Manager Summary Responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring accurate financial statements, compliance with GAAP, and timely completion of the monthly close process. Manage and review the work and flow of Property Accountants, and drive process improvements to enhance the reporting accuracy and operational efficiency. Location The Property Accountant Manager can be based at our corporate office in Greenwich, CT, or our Tampa Support Center in Tampa, FL. The position is a hybrid role where you work out of the office 3 days per week, and then remotely 2 days per week. The hybrid schedule will be discussed during the interview/selection process. Key Qualifications 7 or more years of accounting experience in a multi‑family residential, resort, or hospitality industry Bachelor's Degree required; CPA or CPA Candidate preferred (not required) Proven ability to build, lead, and manage productive and motivated teams of Property Accountants Primary Responsibilities Review of Financials & Reporting Review monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for each property Analyze variances versus budget and prior periods Ensure outputs tie to the general ledger and supporting schedules Coordinate with external auditors by preparing workpapers, responding to audit requests, and reviewing audit deliverables Manage the Close Process Oversee (and often assist with) journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations Ensure month‑end close is completed accurately and on time Review account reconciliations prepared by staff Perform the month‑end close for a few complex properties Supervise and Review Work Manage property accountants and senior accountants Review work (JE’s, recs, financials) and resolve accounting issues Provide guidance, training, and escalation support Drive Process Improvement Identify inefficiencies in close/reporting workflows Implement process or system improvements Help standardize procedures across the portfolio Education 4‑year bachelor’s degree preferred; CPA or CPA Candidate preferred (not required) Skills and Certifications Working knowledge of MS Office Suite Highly proficient in Excel EEO Statement Richman Property Services is an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information.
