The Student Research Coordinator will directly manage and support the work of undergraduate research assistants as they collect data on evictions, foreclosures, and other housing issues in North Carolina. This is a time-limited position, offering benefits, and will run through September 2027, with the possibility of a one-year extension. Position Responsibilities Orient new student researchers to expectations and goals of the grant research Develop and facilitate workshops introducing students to the concepts and practices that ground academic research Work directly with students to develop goals pertaining to their personal interests in housing research Coordinate with faculty and staff doing academic research on campus to provide additional opportunities for students to be introduced to different types of research Work directly with grant principal investigators to ensure undergraduate research activities meet the goals of the Center Learn and perform data collection in support of the grant-funded research Collect data with students in support of the aims of the research Report to grant PI and project director on student progress with data collection Communicate expectations to students through weekly check-ins Report deviations from satisfactory research progress to PI and project director Mentorship of undergraduates to ensure support in data collection Facilitation of mid-year and end of academic year assessments of student research activities Learn requirements for hiring and compensating student researchers Coordinate student travel to conferences in accordance with Ensure reporting of student work and travel activities meet grant and university requirements Position Information Position Number: 542003 Working Position Title: Student Research Coordinator Building and Room No.: Coltrane Hall 315 Appointment Type: Time limited If Time Limited.: Yes Appointment Length.: Through September 2027 with the possibility of a one-year extension through September 2028 Requirements and Preferences Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies: Not Mandatory Normal Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day Department Required Skills: Bachelors Degree in Sociology or related field Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education: Masters Degree in Sociology or related field Experience with housing and displacement related research Experience managing research projects Required License or Certification: N/A Valid US Driver's License: No Commercial Driver's License Required: No Physical Required: No List any other medical/drug tests required: N/A Posting Details Internal Posting Only: No Time Limited Position: Yes Appointment Length: Through September 2027 with the possibility of a one-year extension through September 2028 Salary: Commensurate with education and experience Open Date: 07/22/2026 Close Date: Open Until Filled: Yes Supplemental Questions How did you hear about this employment opportunity?
