Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical, Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of current specialty experience required. License: Valid RN license required. Certifications: BLS required. ONS Chemo certification preferred. Must-Have: - Telemetry interpretation skills - Telemetry monitoring experience - Strong patient care skills Description: The position involves caring for patients with solid tumors throughout their cancer journey. This includes handling new diagnoses, treatment, and end-of-life care transitions. A heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety is integral to this role. Staffing ratios are maintained with a goal of 1:4 but can occasionally be 1:5 based on unit needs. Shift scheduling is self-managed, allowing the nurse to enter their preferred schedule requests. No set or blocked scheduling is offered. Orientation consists of a week of day shifts followed by on-unit orientation with a preceptor. Common patient diagnoses include breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, and esophageal cancer. Candidates will be responsible for administering chemotherapy and managing dysrhythmias. Floating to other medical-surgical oncology units may be required. The unit has equipment such as telemetry systems, bladder scanners, and Alaris pumps. Candidates should be prepared for an urgent fingerprinting process. Two professional references are required, one from a management level, and no coworker references will be accepted.
