Details Work in the NICU/Pediatric Med-Surg unit of a pediatric hospital Patient population includes premature infants and cases involving AOP, ROP, BLD/CLD, cardiac defects, feeding issues, NAS, and iatrogenic NAS Tracheostomy experience required Patient ratio of 1:3-4 Meditech charting system experience preferred Rotating day/night shifts on a 3x12 schedule (7:00 AM-7:30 PM / 7:00 PM-7:30 AM) Every other weekend required Floating required within the specialty No on-call responsibilities Requirements Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required BLS certification required (AHA only) CPI certification typically required, Calm Every Storm online version accepted NRP or AAP certification accepted Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required Tracheostomy care and management experience required Ventilator management experience required Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, TPN/lipids, and pediatric dosage calculations Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and oxygen delivery systems Experience with neurologic conditions including seizure disorders and anti-seizure medications Experience with cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Additional Information Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), NG tube insertion/management, and wound assessment Utilize infection prevention practices including isolation precautions and PPE Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures Manage administration of blood and blood products and emergency medications Holiday coverage required as scheduled Travelers are given priority for floating within scope with no restrictions First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must live 50 miles from the facility to be considered for travel pay unless otherwise specified Returning staff must have a 12-month break before returning as a traveler Returning travelers typically must have a 6-month break from the health system before starting a new assignment American Traveler Job ID P-742116.
