Why does the job exist? This job exists to strengthen Priority Schools Bureau's capacity to support Title I School Improvement schools in designation by ensuring consistent, high-quality implementation of improvement strategies and building sustainable leadership capacity across campuses. To bridge school improvement requirements and effective implementation, while developing leadership systems that improve student outcomes, particularly graduation rates, in Title I identified schools.
How does it get done? - Support schools identified for improvement under Every Student Succeeds Act in effectively implementing their School Improvement Plans.
- Provide direct support for instructional leadership, data use, and continuous improvement systems.
- Strengthen school-level leadership development so principals and leadership teams can execute improvement work with fidelity.
- Ensure alignment across initiatives (e.g., AQUI, SIT-M, Navigate, Navigator supports) so efforts are coordinated rather than fragmented.
- Build internal capacity so schools become increasingly self-sustaining in improving outcomes over time.
Who are the customers? Schools in Designation, Leaders and Teachers of Schools in Designation, and improved instructional practices for students.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced educational leader with a strong background in instructional leadership, school improvement implementation, and data-driven decision-making. They are skilled at bridging strategy and execution, ensuring that improvement plans are translated into consistent, high-quality practice in schools.
Core qualifications and attributes include:
Holds a minimum of a Level III teaching or administrative license (or equivalent), with strong knowledge of instructional leadership practices.
Demonstrated experience supporting Title I and/or school improvement schools under Every Student Succeeds Act requirements.
Deep understanding of school improvement systems, including data analysis, progress monitoring, and intervention planning.
Proven ability to support principals and leadership teams in implementing School Improvement Plans with fidelity.
Experience facilitating professional learning and leadership development for educators across multiple schools.
Strong knowledge of systems such as NM DASH, SIT processes, and instructional coaching models.
Ability to build trust and collaborative relationships with school leaders while maintaining accountability for implementation.
Skilled in organizing, analyzing, and using schoolwide data to inform instructional and systems-level decisions.
Capacity to manage multiple priorities across schools while maintaining consistency and follow-through.

Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, or Business Administration and four (4) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
