Offered salary is dependent upon experience and San Francisco location. Responsibilities include concept ideation, component development, package testing and manufacturing execution.Job ResponsabilitiesRESPONSIBILITIESDevelopmentGuide technical, aesthetic & cost aspects of the design process, including concept ideation and 3D designOversees all projects of all types (sellable, non-sellable, samples, accessories)Execute feasibility on design, COGS, manufacturing capabilities and timingIdentify suitable suppliers based on project requirementsAware of cost impact of each component or methods of productionContinue to evolve packaging aesthetics in coordination with Packaging DesignOversee color/deco submissions, standards, and range boardsResolve packaging related quality issuesFollow and resolve packaging related timeline challengesEngineeringReview and approve technical drawingsLead packaging tooling effortsOversee packaging testing, analyze test results and assess associated riskOversee line trials, fill wts, and component/assembly specsArtworkIssue label claim, dieline, recycling codes and UPC for artworkArtwork proofing for packaging related elementsMaintain component specification and fill assembly instructionsSupport regional and QA package data inquiryGeneralLead and execute resourcing and cost savings initiativesInterface with Marketing, Creative, Operations and Product Development departmentsUnderstand cosmetic product and packaging manufacturing processesParticipate in the development of new package development processes and systemsDevelop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends in packaging technologyDrive towards sustainability initiativesManage budgetManagerialPotentially oversee more than one brandManage, lead, and train an effective team of 2-5 packaging developersLeads various meetings and discussions, both internal and externalHas a strategic view beyond just packagingProfileREQUIREMENTSBS degree in Packaging Engineering or a related technical discipline10+ years of experience in package development/engineering with a best-in-class beauty companyProven track record of success and a broad understanding of cosmetics packagingDemonstrated history of successful cooperation and working relationships with Creative, Marketing, Product Development, and OperationsStrong GMP knowledgeStrategic developer as well as hands-on problem solverStrong independent and analytical thinking skillsExcellent team player with strong relationship building skillsReadily accepts and embraces change, comfortable navigating through ambiguityStrong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookExcellent communication skills, to be able to deal effectively with all levels of the organization and suppliersExcellent organizational skills to manage the documentation, materials, samples and informationSolid record of people management, effectively developing and leading a team of Packaging DevelopersAdditional InformationContractPermanent JobExperienceMinimum 10 yearsTypeFull TimeFunctionResearch & Innovation
