Case Worker/Day Shelter Manager

Summary:

Involves assessing client needs, coordinating services (housing/shelter, healthcare, social, etc.), advocating for clients, monitoring progress, and connecting clients with resources. Key duties include communication with community partners, documentation, and crisis management, requiring strong empathy, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Assessment & Planning: Evaluate client needs, history, and goals.
• Coordination: Connect clients with services, providers, and resources.
• Advocacy: Champion client's rights and needs so that they receive access to appropriate care.
• Monitoring & Evaluation: Track client progress and adjust care plans as needed.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed case records.
• Education & Support: Educate clients about resources and self-care.
• Crisis Intervention: Provide support and intervention during emergencies. 
• Other: Performs other duties as requested by Co-Directors.
• Day Shelter Management:
• • • Create constructive activities for the clients.
    • Oversee day-to-day activities of Day Shelter.
    • Keeps facility clean and orderly.
    • Works with staff to ensure that all services are coordinated.

• Impact and Advocacy : Work directly impacts clients’ abilities to get the services they need.
• Communication: Demonstrates strong communication skills when interacting with individuals who may hold differing opinions or present challenging behaviors. Effectively negotiates, de-escalates tense situations, and maintains professionalism while engaging with clients.
• Strong Computer and Technology Skills: Demonstrates strong proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office, email, and web‐based case‐management tools; quickly learns new systems to support client services and daily operations.
• Time Management: Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and maintains steady productivity in a fast‐paced environment.
• Empathy: Demonstrates compassion, patience, and respect when supporting individuals in crisis; builds trust through attentive listening, non‐judgmental communication, and a genuine commitment to client dignity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• LCSW credential strongly preferred, but not required
• Basic First Aid knowledge
• Experience working with homeless population
• Spanish language proficiency is highly desirable

Details:

• FLSA status: Exempt
• Full-time: 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday through Friday: 7am to 3pm
• Salary: $55-65K, based upon experience
• Benefits: Subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance

• Volunteer time: 8 hours per year
• Paid Time Off (PTO): 15 Days
