Overdose Prevention VISTA Volunteer - Santa Cruz, CA

The CHLI AmeriCorps VISTA Hub is recruiting two, full-year AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteers to serve with SafeRX Santa Cruz. SafeRX Santa Cruz is a local substance use safety coalition comprised of education, social service, government, behavioral health, and healthcare organizations dedicated to aligning and accelerating best practices for opioids and other substances, as well as current best practice guidelines to reduce death. SafeRx works toward a healthy, thriving, safe Santa Cruz County through prevention, increased treatment access, and evidence-based practices, to improve community well-being and save lives. The selected candidate will be a part of a statewide learning community through PHI Center for Health Leadership and Impact. This community includes support from VISTA Leads and professional development opportunities including workshops, networking events, conferences, and other trainings. Summer Associates will be part of a network of over 200 CHLI AmeriCorps alums. Learn more about our program on our website, Member Duties AmeriCorps VISTA Members serve as a key support to coalition leadership and help build local capacity to turn the tide on the overdose epidemic. VISTA members improve operational capacity and build a coordinated response to the overdose epidemic in Santa Cruz by strengthening program partnerships and community outreach, improving communication materials that support program activities, developing new educational materials to support overdose prevention, designing referral directories, and strengthening youth engagement opportunities.
