Lecturer, Critical Health Studies in Asian American Studies University of California - Santa Barbara Position Overview Position title: Lecturer (Non-Senate Faculty) Salary range: See Table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimated full‑time rate for this position at 100% time is $75,301‑$101,198 per year. Percent time: Percent appointment may vary. Position Description The Asian American Studies Department invites applications for qualified lecturers with strong research training and innovative pedagogic experience to teach courses in critical health justice. The successful candidate will develop and teach both small and large courses as part of the Department’s new health justice track, including an introductory course on health justice & community. Candidates with scholarly interests beyond standard biomedical and public health approaches—such as critical disability studies, food justice, environmental/climate justice, health disparities/policy, reproductive care, indigenous knowledge production, community healing practices, migrant health care, medical racism/apartheid, colonial medicine—are especially encouraged. While an ongoing research agenda is not expected, candidates must show evidence of strong research training in order to teach research methods (qualitative/humanistic or quantitative) as part of their teaching repertoire. Qualifications Basic qualifications Ph.D. or ABD (all but dissertation) trained in a social science or relevant interdisciplinary field such as feminist, queer, global, ethnic, and/or Asian American studies. At least one year of teaching experience. Preferred qualifications More than one year of teaching experience and a strong record of innovative, community‑engaged teaching. Evidence of strong research training in critical health justice to teach research methods as part of the teaching repertoire.
