Temporary Faculty – Lecturer in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department Position Summary Our interdisciplinary program explores gender and its intersections with sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, nationality, disability, and age. We do not shy away from controversial issues or from contemporary political debates. Instead, we empower students to change the world around them by honing their critical thinking skills, deepening their commitment to social justice, and affirming their abilities to craft solutions to social problems. Courses Taught WGSS 10 Intro to Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies WGSS 11 Introduction to LGBTQ+ Studies WGSS 12 Critical Thinking WGSS 18 Women and Ageing WGSS 165/PSYCH 165 LGBTQ Psychology WGSS 122 Queer Indigenous and Persons of Color Instructor Responsibilities Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system‑wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Appointment Details Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. Working order begins with tenure‑line faculty and ends with new lecturer appointments. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States; California State University, Fresno does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas. Compensation Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = **** for Academic Year Lecturers). For temporary faculty with a Master’s degree, the salary range is $5,*****,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Presente monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term. Semester Timing The pool is continuously open; positions are filled as needed. Appointments may be made just prior to the start of a term, and applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains for two academic terms; re‑application is required for longer stays. Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution. Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, prior teaching experience and evaluations, experience in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies or a related field.
